Candelaria celebrations in Puno will resume in 2024

After a four-year hiatus due to Covid-19 restrictions, the celebrations in honor of the Virgin of La Candelaria in Puno are back in 2024.

This festival is much more than a religious celebration, it is a journey through the rich cultural heritage that defines Puno and celebrates the diversity of cultural expressions. The best of Andean music, tradition and culture come together for the stellar return of one of Peru's greatest celebrations, and over the next few weeks, the streets of Puno will be filled with the best displays of typical dances, with 'diabladas' and 'morenadas', and the best spirits.

The celebration began on January 19th and is expected to last until February 15th. In the coming weeks, the dance competitions, masses and various parades will begin.
